Success – How committed are you?

How committed are you, truly, to making the changes or achieving the things that you say that you want to achieve? How committed are you to success?

This has been one of the biggest frustrations or insights that I’ve had since I was very, very young in the way that, whenever I wanted to do something, I just got on and I did it.

And I remember the first time that I went to Africa. I was about 16 years old, and I was planning, and I was talking about doing that, and my mum said something flippantly. And I always remember it, and she always remembers it where I turned around and said to her, and I said, Mum, I am going. And she looked at me and she said, “I know.”

And in that moment she truly knew that, I didn’t know how I was going to make it become a reality, but she knew that I was going to go to Africa to do aid work. And that’s exactly what kind of happened.

And there’s a few things in my life that I’ve just had this absolute single, confidence, conviction, whatever you want to call it, that I’m going to make this happen, whatever. One of those other ones was when I went out to business on my own for the first time and transitioned from an executive salary into a consulting salary. I achieved that within three weeks.

Now that’s pretty impressive, and really that comes down to that mindset, that conviction, that discipline, that commitment that you want to make that become a reality.

So if you keep talking about things that you want to do, I want to challenge you and actually say, well how committed, actually, are you? If it’s not that important, stop talking about it. Drop that stuff. Focus on the stuff that’s really important. Get committed to it. And then do whatever you need to make that become a reality.
